Raising the bottle and can tax!
Another TAX increase! Another TAX increase! Even the bottles we drink from! Whats next – the air – that seerms all thats left! A nun from Spain who founded a Brooklyn nonprofit that collects recyclable bottles and cans is leading the charge to get the state to raise the deposit on the items, which has been a nickel since 1982. This is ANOTHER TAX that allows our government to collect millions in unclaimed bottle deposits. Keeping people in bottle poverty. Who Pays? We do! STOP ANY NEW TAXES – STOP THE 3rd AVE BID TAX!

Will A New BID For Bay Ridge Bring It Back The Way It Was?
By Ben Verde -July 26, 2019Read Article at Bklyner A proposed Third Avenue Business Improvement District is proving to be a hard sell to Bay Ridge merchants and building owners. During a public hearing Thursday night, BID supporters took a grilling from skeptical business owners, many of whom said the proposed fees were unnecessary, and did not trust that the agreed-upon fees would not be raised. James Ellis, a consultant hired by BID supporters, got into several spats with attendees, at one point telling a woman he was exchanging words with she “could leave” if she was done speaking. “I’m involved in several bids,” said Anthony Pennachio, a property owner on Third…

July 25th BID Meeting Highlights
$560,000 Budget! $45,000/month – and they could not tell us how they arrived at that number and who was getting it! $240,000 Administration COSTS – HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 120K for marketing? We were greeted with a vague presentation of how great a BID is and how it benefits us all. No details on exact services, no metrics for success – all we heard was emotion and nostalgia of how it used to be and how we MUST address this crisis or we will have other opportunity to fix it. They filled 80% of the time with members of BID’s that have been “successful” – Park Slope and 5th Ave. They spoke…

The decay of our way of life
First Pot, than sex, than infanticide – yes we need a BID to help us take back our morals, our society and our businesses. Our socialistic Mayer, the corrosive business policies, the FREE FREE FREE items to all – and “they” want to charge us more for a BID? The designers of this disaster will not be here to pay for this distribution of our income. They are from the past, with failed ancient ideas and zero business acumen. Who put them in charge? You? Me? I don’t remember anyone asking us if we needed their help – if we did we would have PAID for their failed Merchant Association.…

$19 Bridge and Congestion Pricing
$19 Verrazano, $15 congestion pricing, Mansion Tax, 5cent bags – more and more is being extracted from out pockets. Tell us specifically what will we get by paying MORE for a BID? This is another tax on us – plain and simple. Fancy lights does not bring us more sales. If the promoters cannot tell us exactly what we will get for this extra money they want to extort from us, than they cannot allow a BID to be formed. Say no to the 3rd Ave BID – put your money into advertising.

BIDS refuse to give details
A BID does not like to give details about its spending. You can get general items BUT never specific details. I have been asking the Chinatown BID in NY for specific details on services only to be stone walled. I have spoken to and emailed numerous times for information: Thank you – this is boiler plate information – every BID has the same line items. I want the details please.i.e.Who is paid for sanitation and the breakdown, What marketing – breakdown, Office expenses – ratio of expenses to income – itemized operating expenses WHY? The answer is simple. A BID need to survive. It does so by blowing the proverbial…

STOP the Coney Island BID
Seems We are not the only ones AGAINST a BID. Once the costs and the non-value is realized, People are against a BID! Its akin to making us purchase a product we don’t need for want – is that American? Why is it that always a few, want to impose their will on the many? If they believe an idea is GREAT, than they SHOULD fund it themselves and PROVE to us the value with REAL numbers showing how well it works. They will STOP the Coney Island BID and we MUST STOP the 3rd ave BID STOP THE CONEY ISLAND BID! Some merchants on Mermaid Avenue are petitioning to…

Chinatown BID – Income and Expenses 2016
If you compare and contrast the Chinatown BID Income and Expense report to the 5th ave in Brooklyn’s one, you will notice quite a startling similarity. Chinatown BID 2016 – 2017 Financials Like the 5th ave BID, it has taken weeks to get information from the Chinatown BID in regards to detail and clarification as to the actual expenditures. BID’s do NOT like to give up the details. I am involved in a few of these BIDS and can say they rarely give up the details easily. WHY? well if they did, than anyone looking objectively at the information may question the BID’s existence. This is a known tactic of…

More 3rd ave Store for rent!
18 and counting! The tombstones of the ave seem to be increasing. These are from 75 to 81st – Hopefully not many more towards 100st. Property taxes, death of retail, high rents & operating expenses all contribute to new small business not opening or closing shop. Does anyone have any other ideas why? Let us know. Will a BID solve these problems or increase the financial burden possible pushing others over the edge to close? The city needs money to pay for all the FREE services it want to give away – where will this money come from? US! Current politicians believe we are too rich and should not have…
