This weekend, i was speaking to an individual that owns many properties on 5th ave – 1st they did not realize they paid for a BID and began reviewing their tax statements to find out they pay in excess of $7500 a year! If we remember correctly, there was an OPINION article in the home reporter that said the 5th ave BID $300,000 grant was to be used for web sites etc… We remember the 5th ave BID was moving into a bigger office! They promise to boost business, increase foot traffic, promote your business. What they actually do is block access to your storefronts during the festivals, they invite outside vendors, place loud & obstructing equipment that drives away your customers, and they go into your pockets. Just ask around the neighborhood. Many have complained since the festival, several merchants LOST business. Outside vendors made lots of money. 3rd ave Bank Branch Closing
DIME bank on 76st and 3rd ave will be closing their branch in January. This leaves another store for rent and PROVES our point – big corporations and their employees should NEVER support a tax on property owners.
